keepyourcreditcardactive.com provides a service which aims to prevent your credit card from being closed due to inactivity.
To prevent your credit card from becoming inactive, we will charge a small amount to it on a recurring basis.
This service will not increase your credit score. The only thing it does is keep your credit card active by charging you for the service on a recurring basis.
If you have ever had a credit card closed due to inactivity, then you are my target customer. After having multiple of my own credit cards closed due to inactivity, I decided to create this service.
If you only have one credit card and you use it every month, then this service is not made for you. But if you have a sock drawer full of unused credit cards, keep reading.
If you have a credit card that you never use, then eventually the bank may close it due to inactivity. I didn't like it when it happened to me, and you probably do not want the bank to close your credit card either.
Closing a credit card may lower your credit score. You will have less available credit. You will also lose out on any perks that the credit card provided.
It will change factors which go into generating your credit score.
Your total credit availiable will decrease, which will increase the utilization ratio of your availiable credit if you carry a balance on any of your credit cards.
The information about how you managed the closed card will stay on your credit report for ten years, however the age of the account will not increase over time. This will have a lowering effect on your average age of credit over the ten years it takes for the account to fall off your reports.
It depends on who issued the credit card. Some issuers want to see at minimum activity every few months, others have no problem with up to two years of inactivity. You can contact your credit card issuer to determine how long an inactivity period they will allow before they close your account.
If you are using your credit card, then you do not need my service. I advise that you pause your subscription for that credit card, and unpause when you stop using the card.
If you want to cancel, then simply cancel online through the customer portal to immediately stop getting billed.
You may wish to simply pause and unpause the service instead of cancelling completely which is done through the customer portal as well.
No tricks - no emails or phone calls required. Simply cancel online through the customer portal and its done.
Honestly, you would be better off buying a candy bar at the gas station with your credit card. After all, I will not be sending you a candy bar after I charge your credit card.
However, do you really want to have to remember to buy that candy bar? Or, maybe you have lots credit cards that you don't use, and you are tired of holding up the line at the gas station buying ten candy bars with ten seperate credit cards.
For the price of just a candy bar, you can stop worrying about keeping your unused credit card active.
The only difference is the price you will pay to keep your credit card active.
It is sort of like a discount that doesn't force you to waste time looking for a promo code.
I will not sell or give your information to anyone beyond my payment processor unless I am required to by law for some weird reason.
I use Stripe to handle all aspects of the billing process - all your credit card information and that sort of stuff is stored by Stripe who take security quite seriously.
I may send you some emails related to this service. I may also send you promotional emails (if you allow me to) which I may make a profit on, but I promise that I will never send you anything that I would not gladly sign up for myself. In every email I send there will always be an easily visible link to unsubscribe from my future communications in case I ever end up annoying you.
